Collecting paper scraps is one of my dearest hobbies and my paper flowers were born when experiementing on making my crown embellishments. I always like to add a unique 3D “paper jewel” to the front as a focal point. Making paper scraps into flowers came easy as I love thinking about the spring…Selecting and organizing my scraps was so much fun as I re-discoverd some that I haven’t seen in a while! I love mixing colours, textures and patterns…Because crepe paper made a huge come back and in many new beautiful colours, I decided to add some to my flower designs. You will see how easy is to make your own once you follow my tutorial, you will find yourself adding them to so many projects!
The first thing you need to do is make your flower patterns, draw them and cut them. There are so many shapes, I just chose these ones because I love how they look together. You will be “building” your flowers with them to achieve a more realistic effect, 3D.
Once you have cut your paper flowers, you then need to start combining them. This is so much fun as you end up with a very different set of flowers! I love glitter, and I used glitter – glue for this project. Why? Because flowers are not “flat”, I wanted to achieve a more realistic look and when using glitter glue the results are just perfect! You will chose a thin brush {dont’ use the ones you have for decorative painting, a cheap one will do} and brush thin lines of glitter around the edges of the flowers. Set aside and let dry for about an hour. If you place them under a light on your working table they will be ready sooner.
