A Day at the Farm…in the city of Toronto
What a fabulous Victoria Day weekend we had! Not a cloud in the sky! We spent most of the day walking, taking photos at High Park and the Riverdale Farm right close to nature. And today I want to share with you some of it. Let’s start with the Riverdale Farm. Did you know that we have a farm in the heart of the city here in Toronto? This is a must place to visit and very easy to get to by car or public transit. It’s right here. There is a Farmer’s Market every Tuesday where you can find organic products. And a long list of great events all year round.
I have loved animals and plants since a very early age and after living in the country for a while I developed a desire even bigger to be close to nature every time I can. The Riverdale Farm is the perfect place to feel like right out of the city! You will see beautiful gardens, lots of animals like horses, pigs, sheep, hens and chickens, turtles lying on top of sunny rocks, ducks and more. You won’t want to miss the photos I have to show you…
There is always something going on at the farm. And if you visit the shop you will find homemade goods like jams, jellies, paintings, cards, knits…It’s a great place to visit anytime of the year.
Once you start walking towards the entrance of the farm you can see tons of pigeons flying in synchronized formations! It’s almost a welcoming show. And once you cross the gate you see the first “creature”, a “horse” covered on growing sedums and cactus! Imagine how wonderful it will look in the Summer time once these plants reached full growth. Hopefully I will be able to come back to the farm and photograph it again. Want to see the animals? More photos coming up…come back later!

Your day and this place sound perfect. I love the horse – especially the hat. I can’t wait to read and see more.
Hey I think this blog is really interesting
Toronto looks stunning.

We have a park in the city where I live – but nothing like this! The horse scupture-cum-topiary is charming and I would love to see it covered in flowers.
I’ll be back for more photos for sure!
I wish we had a holiday like Victoria’s Day …. instead of Secretary’s Day, for instance. (Did you sense my eyes rolling?)
What great snaps! Can’t wait to see the inside!
I love this piece of country life in the middle of the city!
