Glitter Party – Day Two – Glittered Wedding Favors

June 19, 2009

GLITTER PARTY BUTTON

It’s Wedding Season and what a better excuse than making a Wedding Favor at the Glitter Party! I am sure that some of you or people you know are planning the big event. Although a lot of energy and thoughts are spent on the creation of Wedding Favors not all are to be remembered. Let’s make something nice that people would either want to display or save as a very special keepsake.

Guest Lists can be very long and remember that you would need to make at least one favor per family and each person attending. Budget and time play the most important part in planning for a wedding. We are going to make an affordable, fast and stylish Wedding Favor! I always love transferring my ideas to materials I already have in my studio. And this time my thoughts went right back to Christmas! We are going to use an ordinary Christmas globe for this project. Start digging inside your boxes for left over globes! And here are the materials you need:

MATERIALS

Martha Stewart’s Essential Colors Glitter Set 24 Pcs. – {Turquoise and Sterling} here

Martha Stewart’s Craft Paper Punch {Dove } here

Christmas globe

Silver organza ribbon

White ribbon flower

Spoon to sprinkle your glitter

Brush

LET’S DECORATE THE WEDDING FAVOR

Once you gathered all your materials you will be ready to start decorating your Wedding Favor.

DOVE 300

As this is a Glitter Party you can imagine that glitter will be the main embellishment on this project. This is why I have chosen a very clean and simple motif to decorate my Wedding Favor. I mentioned before on another post that I love craft paper punches. One of my latest additions to my ever growing collection was a delicate dove craft paper punch from Martha Stewart.

MEANING OF DOVES:

Why is it that in so many weddings we watch dove releases? Is there a special meaning behind it? Yes! Doves chose a partner for life. The white dove symbolizes: Love, Peace, Goodwill, Good Luck, Purity, Faithfulness and Prosperity.

INSTRUCTIONS LABEL

I made a couple of birds using the craft paper punch for my Wedding Favor. I used them as stencils and transferred them onto the globe with a pencil.

Once you are ready brush white glue on the birds and start glittering them with the fine Sterling glitter. I use a spoon to sprinkle the glitter. Shake off excess glitter and let them dry completely.

TIP:

To protect your floor and surfaces sprinkle your globe over a box where you keep your glitter or over a  sheet of paper,  you could easily transfer back the remaining glitter inside your container right after you finished.

After your glittered birds are dry you can start glittering the whole globe. You will repeat the same process. Brush white glue on the globe and sprinkle it with the fine Turquoise glitter working on small areas at a time.

TIP:

Let the glitter fall freely from your spoon onto the globe as you sprinkle it, do not press with your fingers on it. Shake off excess glitter and let dry completely. This fine glitter will perfectly cover the whole surface or your ornament

This is a wonderful idea for even a Christmas party favor! I didn’t think you could use two different colours because I assumed they would mix together and ruin the image!I can’t wait to see what else you’ve got cooked up :)

Decorating Christmas ornaments with glitter is one of my all time favorite things to do. It doesn’t matter whether it’s summer or not, it’s just plain fun. I have an ornament design that I would like to share with you sometime, Gabriella. I’ll see what I can do to get a photo to you.

    Thanks for another great tutorial!

What a great look! I have the butterfly stamp from MS but, had not seen the bird. This is such a great idea! Thank goodness we have no weddings in our near future but, with the cost of weddings these days, anything you can do (& doe well) yourself the better! Thanks for sharing. I am loving the glitter party. I was looking for my glittered letters I had finished & was going to show. But, ???????? where di they go? Thanks for hosting this great event.
