Cupcake Craze at Magnolia Bakery…

It was hot! And after visiting the Rockefeller Center we felt like having a nice “sweet”, a lemonade…and of course we went to Magnolia Bakery right on the Avenue of the Americas, here are all locations. Do you know how this fabulous bakery became so famous?

Apparently it was open with the idea of having just an ordinary bakery. But there wasn’t enough space to make the bread. They kept making cakes and pastries and Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Buttercream icing tinted pink cupcakes with the left over batter. Then things suddenly changed when people started to love them and they started the “Cupcake Craze” in the 1990’s. Isn’t this amazing? Sometimes great things happen from mishaps! And the rest is history.

I think that the concept of making cupcakes is not only hip but also practical because having a cupcake is like having a piece of cake, right? Cupcake means “small cake”. And these delicious treats are also offered at weddings instead of a cake. They look terrific as cupcake tiers!

This is the box we got…and yes, I am crazy about chocolate! How can you tell?

Magnolia Bakery is a must stop if you are visiting New York City. We have visited the location on Bleecker Street last year which was the first one they opened.
