HAND PAINTED GLOBES TUTORIAL

ECO GIFT BOX OF ORNAMENTS 1 - 600 copy

vitrailA1

Happy Pink Saturday everyone! The month of August is almost gone…and I know you are going to miss your blooming gardens…How are you planning to immortalize your flowers and keep them forever? How about painting them? Let’s painting them on globes! I really think you are going to enjoy this tutorial because once again you will be using things that you already have at home.

How many plain Christmas globes do you have stashed in boxes? Does it sound like a silly question? Well, may be…Why would you collect plain ornaments? I buy plain ornaments as soon as they go on sale to have them handy and “turn them” into something else later on during the year. Look for white, mother of pearl or clear globes for this project. You will also need glass paint, brushes and pretty ribbons. That’s it! Isn’t it wonderful that with only a few things you can put together a stunning addition for your Christmas tree or even a gift?

INSTRUCTIONS:

1- Wipe your globe with a soft cloth to get rid off any dust.

2- I used Vitrail glass paint from Pebeo for this project. This paint is ready to use.

TIP: I know that you might try to draw the flowers on the globe to paint right on top of them. But this could be a little tricky. Glass paint gives a transparent look and you should be careful with your pencil marks. If you are going to draw your flowers use a light pencil. And if you feel really confident, paint them freehand! Much better!

You can produce beautiful designs but in a very different depth without many detailed strokes than when using acrylics. You need to work pretty quick as this paint dries fast.

These paints are solvent based, ready to use and can be mixed together. They give good light solidity. You can paint glass, polyester and acetate.

3- Use Vitrail paints and out-liners to add more detail to your flowers if you wish.

4- Once your ornament has dried completely, tie a pretty ribbon to it.

Do you see the plastic box full of globes above? It’s a recycled muffin box! It’s the perfect container. Eco-friendly, recycled and see through to show off  my hand painted globes. I just added a few glittered accents to it. It’s ready for giving!

I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial and start looking at your plastic boxes as perfect containers for your gifts. Christmas is around the corner, I already started making my gifts…Have you started already?

And now let’s head over to our Pink Saturday host,  Beverly at  “How Sweet the Sound” for more PINKNESS! Thank you so much for visiting me today! Have a lovely weekend!

DISCLOSURE: I have a material connection with Pebeo because I received a gift or sample of a product for consideration in preparing to write this content.

Happy Pink Saturday! Christmas… I am over whelmed just thinking of it! I usually put up 5 trees & 5 lighted villages. This year I am thinking fewer trees & less commercial. More attention to details & creativity. Your flower painted ornament was lovely.
