Marie De Fête Day Three…Marie Antoinette Christmas Inspirations…

November 20, 2009

While making my Marie De Fête Globes I have placed Marie Antoinette at her favorite places such as the Hameau, The Petit Trianon, Le petit Théâtre de Marie-Antoinette to name a few. I decorated the mini-scenes with ribbons, flowers, millinery flowers and trims. She loved gardening…Marie’s gown and pouf are embellished with glitter and rhinestones for an extra glamorous look.

Welcome to Marie De Fête day three! Christmas is a very special time to me…it reminds me fun time spent with my Mother as a child…One of my most dearest memories was putting a big Christmas tree up with her…She collected so many antique and handmade ornaments in boxes that it took us a couple of hours to decorate the whole tree. I even remember adding fake snow! It was listening to my Mother’s singing that I learned my first French words…

My Mother had a beautiful nativity scene called crèche in old French. La crèche, appeared in 12th century France in the form of liturgical drama but it wasn’t until the 16th century that this custom widespread all over the country.

My Christmas were European style and celebrated on the 24th of December. I believed and waited for NoëlPapa Noël. I also put my shoes under the Christmas tree for him to leave me gifts. And also left  food and water for his reindeer. It was very magical!

But why am I sharing this story with you today? Well, I want to tell you about what inspired me to make my new Marie De Fête Globes. Everything I design is dedicated to my Mother, who always promoted my creativity. But anything I create for Christmas is extra special because  it carries my memories creating with her…It was actually la crèche what inspired me to make my Marie De Fête Globes. But I actually decided to create a Marie Antoinette miniature scene instead using her most favorite places like the Hameau, The Petit Trianon, Le petit Théâtre de Marie-Antoinette to name a few.
