Glittered & Stenciled Ornament…using a craft punch…

December 14, 2009

The last few weeks have been crazy busy teaching workshops and doing some interviews…As I know you are still making decorations for the Holidays, I thought about sharing with you another tutorial. Do you love punch art? I love it! And have collected quite a few punches. Punches are great to make easy stencils so I decided to use one of my favorite ones and make some. I used a corner punch for this project. I called this project Glittered Stenciled Ornament with “a punch”.

MATERIALS:

Glitter in two colours: white and red

Scissors

Ribbon

Tape

Paper

Punch

White  plain ornament

Pencil

Brush

Ornament glue

INSTRUCTIONS:

1- Choose your favorite craft punch and make some stencils.

2- Remove metal top from the ornament.

3- Using tape adhere them on the ornament around the center leaving the same space between them.

4- Using a brush add white glue to the stencil.

5- Sprinkle red glitter right on the glue.

6- Repeat the process and do two stencils at a time.

7- Let dry completely.

8- Using a brush add glue to the ornament background.

9- Sprinkle silver glitter on it.

10- Let dry completely.

11- Choose two pieces of elegant ribbon. I chose silver and lavender.

This elegant ornament makes a great gift. Find a pretty box and wrap it!

Enjoy! I would love to see yours, please send me your photos.

    Hello everyone,

Projects using craft punches are among my most favorites…

I am really glad you liked this ornament…Honestly, I was just trying to make one from things I already have in my studio. And I am a huge craft punch fan…have lots of them…and I am always looking for new interesting ones…

Guess what? I just bought myself a new one…on sale…Aren’t you curious?

Don’t be! I will be showing it to you soon {I know you would want one for yourself} and how I used it on a craft project. So fun!

    Kate:
Yes! You better get back to the store…and stock up on them!

    Hi Gabriela,
This is a wonderful idea, and it certainly came out beautiful. I love glitter anything, and this looks so lovely. I bet it catches the light on the tree too.

Hi Gabriela! I love how you always teach us to look at things in a new way. I never would have thought of using a punch to create a stencil….super idea and I love how you’ve created sparkling ornaments with the stencils. Beautiful ~ xo Joy
