Rock My Heart…Hand Painted Valentine’s Tee…and TV Segment to watch…

February 3, 2010

Remember the latest Decorating Tees  TV segment I did the past January 20th on Daytime York? Now you can watch it right here on my blog! Click on the image above and watch it on Explorer {it doesn’t open nicely on Firefox}.

I don’t know about you but I love wearing my jeans all the time…cool and comfortable. How about wearing a Tee for Valentine’s Day? Of course, all depends on what you will be doing. Wings have been popular on Tees for while and I thought about incorporating them in a design with a heart-crown template and crystals. Glamorous! Make this project now and you will have your Tee ready to wear way ahead of time. Let’s get started with it!

MATERIALS:

Black Tee {mine is V-Neck}

Paint brushes in different sizes

Tulip® Fashion Form™

Tulip® Soft Paint {Matte Glacier White 4OZ}

Tulip® Fashion Graffiti™ Dimensional Fabric Paint Taggers™ {Hub Cap}

Tulip® Fashion Glitter Bond™

Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion™ Permanent Dry Cleanable Fabric Adhesive™

Tulip® Fashion Glitter™ {Multi Ultra Fine Crystal, Silver Ultra Fine Holographic, Red Fine Jewel, Gold Fine Jewel}

Tulip® Glam-It-Up!™ Iron-On Crystals™

Tulip® Glam-It-Up!™ Fashion Art Tweezers™

Tulip® Cordless Heat Setting Tool™

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • 1- Wash your Tee but do not use softener. Hang to dry.
  • 2- Place the Tulip® Fashion Form™ inside your vest. It will give you great support to work on and it will prevent materials from staining the back of the Tee.
  • 3- Make your own stencils using sturdy plastic, like a see through plastic bag.
  • 4- Draw a heart on one sheet of plastic and cut out the inner image.
  • 5- Then draw a wing and repeat step.
  • 6- You will place your wing stencil on the Tee and will secure it with tape.
  • 7- Then place your heart wing and repeat same step.
  • 8- Apply Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion™ Permanent Dry Cleanable Fabric Adhesive™ using a brush on heart first and cover the surface.
  • 9- Using Tulip® Fashion Glitter™ Red glitter sprinkle on it. Repeat step if necessary to cover full surface.
  • 10- Let dry completely.
  • 12- Using the Tulip® Fashion Glitter Gold Fine Crystal & Silver Fine Holographic sprinkle glitter alternating colours on the surface before paint dries. Let dry completely.
  • 13- Repeat step using Tulip® Fashion Glitter Crystal. But only apply on small areas giving a shinning effect to heart.
  • 14- Apply Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion™ Permanent Dry Cleanable Fabric Adhesive™ using a brush on wing and cover the surface.
  • 15- Add details using Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint {Puffy White} alternating with Tulip® Paint Taggers™ {Silver}.
  • 16- Peel off Tulip® Sticky Fabric Stencils crown stencil and adhere it above the heart on the Tee.
  • 16- Using Tulip® Fashion Glitter™ Gold glitter on crown and cover full surface.
  • 17- Let dry completely.
  • 18- Gather Tulip® Glam-It-Up! ™ Iron-On Crystals™.
  • 19- Place crystals on fabric. Turn Tulip® Cordless Heat Setting Tool™, hold it straight up and touch top of crystal. Heat will melt the glue. Add crystals one by one.

TIP: Although paint and glitter usually dry in about four hours I always let my Tees dry until the day after. Then I give them a rinse with soap for delicate clothes and hang to dry.

    Wow. What an inspiring blog you have! I discovered you when you were kind enough to visit by blog on Pink Saturday. I am finally getting a chance to return the favor. After exploring your blog I am so tempted to drop everything and go play in my craft room all day. Forget the bills that need to be paid, the mail that needs to go out, the dishes in the sink.

    Looking forward to what you share next!

    Hello,

    Yes! I have been decorating my Tees since I was…let’s say very young…LOL!
    And now products are much better to work with and more importantly, fabric paint and glitter dry faster!

    I really hope you decorate a Tee with this tutorial!
